UTEP International Student Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle

According to KVIA, UTEP foreign exchange student Achim F. Schweighofer has died this morning as a result of injuries sustained after being hit by a vehicle on Friday.

Schweighofer was walking through Miner Village parking lot when he was struck by a car. He was taken to University Medical Center where he was placed on life support.

Schweighofer's mother and uncle flew in from Austria this weekend. His father, however, was unable to come because his passport expired. No word yet on any memorial funds in his name.
