An urgent appeal for type O-negative blood donors has been released by the United Blood Services. The O-negative blood type is the universal blood type, and used for multiple medical usages. United Blood Services Texas region locally had hospital orders for about 80 donations waiting to be filled.

United Blood Services has been this area's non-profit community blood provider since 1953 and serves patients in 19 hospitals in El Paso and Southern New Mexico. Now they need your help!

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
