In a city where art often shines in unexpected corners, Tower Productions has built a name as one of El Paso’s premier independent film powerhouses. Since its formation in 2016, the team has carved out a reputation for producing award-winning short films, ambitious feature projects, and collaborations that make El Paso feel like a city with its own cinematic heartbeat.

A Production House with Big Ambitions

Tower Productions isn’t just another independent company with a camera and a dream. Their projects span short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, and commercial work, all with a signature focus on quality storytelling. One of their standout works, So, Who Was It This Time?, didn’t just make waves locally. It screened at Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle Film Festival and walked away with a shelf full of awards from festivals across the country. That kind of recognition has placed Tower Productions firmly on the radar of the indie film world.

His storytelling sensibility has made him a standout voice, while his leadership keeps Tower Productions pushing forward.

But Carlos doesn’t stop at the director’s chair. He’s also the Chairman and co-host of the TowerCast Network, which runs podcasts like the TowerCast Podcast and the WatchTower Film Podcast, giving filmmakers and film lovers alike a platform to connect. I’ve even had the chance to join the WatchTower Film Podcast myself to talk about one of my favorite movies, Death Proof. Being able to see how their team works up close, and watching their projects on screen, has shown me firsthand the passion and craft that fuels everything they do. Carlos also contributes to the weekly radio program on KTEP, On Film!

Building El Paso’s Film Legacy

What makes Tower Productions and Carlos stand out isn’t just their body of work. It’s their commitment to building El Paso’s film community from the ground up. Whether it’s mentoring local filmmakers, hosting film-centered conversations, or actively drawing attention from Hollywood names, their mission is rooted in collaboration.

Carlos often cites Martin Scorsese as his cinematic hero, but in El Paso, he and Tower Productions are building their own kind of legacy: one where indie voices get heard, local talent gets seen, and El Paso continues to prove it belongs on the map of great filmmaking cities.
