If you're looking for a unique weekend experience where you can learn a little history too check out this underground bunker turned Airbnb. The holidays are here and people are taking their vacation time and looking for new memories they can make with their families and friends.
There are plenty of places you can go only a few hours from El Paso to visit for the weekend, or even just for the night. If you've never been to Roswell, it's a great place to go and explore some of the beautiful scenery and rich history. And if you do make the trip up to Roswell, there's an amazing Airbnb you can stay out.
Just 3 miles from Roswell is the old Walker Air Force Base, a former Army flying school that used to be the largest base of the Strategic Air Command. While you might think the base was opened because of the Roswell incident, the base actually opened in 1941, six years before there were reports of a flying saucer crashing into the desert. The base closed in 1967 and the land has been used for various purposes. Many aircraft are still stored there and are for sale, Eastern New Mexico University has used some of the lands to build a campus, but much of the base is still intact. People can buy portions of the base and that's exactly what one man named Gary did with the Missile Silo on base.
You can stay at this underground bunker with its Launch Control Center and even get a tour from the owner. Check out some of the amazing pictures of this property below and book your stay at the Airbnb website.
