El Paso sunsets are in fact, a work of art. They’re beautiful and sometimes they make the sky look like it’s on fire, and they can also make for a great postcard if postcards are still a thing.

However, an El Paso rainbow after a rainstorm just might be even better than an El Paso sunset in my opinion. Maybe I’m biased though because the word rainbow in Spanish is “Arcoiris” and my name is Iris and well, you get my point.

Anyways, El Paso got a good amount of rainfall over the past few nights which made for a cool start to the morning and when that sun came out so did the beautiful rainbows.

Mike first noticed the rainbow when I opened the curtains to the studio and he was in awe of the gorgeous rainbow that greeted us in the morning. So, I went outside to snap a picture.

Well, I wasn’t the only one who noticed the beautiful El Paso rainbow. Just down the street my former co-workers at KVIA were able to grab some great shots of the rainbow right outside of the studio but they were lucky enough to get the DOUBLE RAINBOW:

A few blocks down near Kern Place, KFOX-TV’s Robert Holguin took a great shot of the rainbow right outside of his home.

But my favorite rainbow photo has got to be this photo taken by El Paso photographer Miguel Vigil.

Around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Miguel was able to snap a photo of Mount Cristo Rey with the rainbow as its backdrop.

A further away shot shows the rainbow with a few clouds passing by Mount Cristo Rey.

And you can’t have a rainbow shot without showing some UTEP pride! Miguel took another great photo of the rainbow right behind UTEP’s iconic pick that overlooks Juarez.

El Paso weather can sometimes be scary and most of the time it causes havoc on our streets, but one thing is for sure; after every storm there’s a beautiful rainbow waiting to remind you that everything is going to be alright.

I needed that sign this morning and I’m glad I saw it.
