Honestly, I wish this program was available when I was growing up…

What are the Latinitas all about?

The Latinitas is a non-profit organization that enables young Latinas to achieve personal and academic success through media and technology outreach thereby addressing the critical state of Latina girls today. While Latina girls ages 12 to 17 are the largest group of minority girls in the country, they are more likely than their non-Hispanic peers to face the four most serious threats to achieving success: depression, pregnancy, substance abuse and becoming a high school drop out. The solution lies in empowering these young Latinas, strengthening their confidence and expanding their opportunities. With a variety of enriching experiences, Latinitas discover their voice and develop media skills while building a solid foundation for their future.

Being a female Latina, I completely support any organization that will help propel a young mind.

The Art Series Camp begins August 3, August 10, August 17, and ends August 24th and it’s free.

Classes are held from 10:00-11:30am at 10935 Ben Crenshaw #207.

It’s preferred if you call or email to take part in the workshop but you can also just stop by.

In these arts workshops, girls gain skills related to art as they boost their self-esteem and express themselves creatively.

The Latinitas invite local female artists and college students to teach how to work with different mediums like watercolors, acrylic, sketching and more.

Sounds pretty amazing! You too can be part of the Latinitas whether it be volunteering your time, making a donation, or attending any one of their events, either way you can make a difference.
