TX Mother Receives Terrifying Call From School They Lost Her Son
A San Antonio school district is under fire after they lost one of their young students at 9 am earlier this week.
A MOMENT FOR DISCIPLINE
A third-grade student by the name of Colton was misbehaving in class when finally, his teacher decided to send him outside the classroom for a quick timeout, however, Colton had other plans.
Corey Heemer recounts the terrifying moment she received a call from Cole Elementary, informing her they cannot find her son. "What did she mean gone? Did she really just lose my kid?" said Heemer. "Did he go to the counselor? Did he go somewhere else on campus? What do you mean he's just gone?"
WHAT HAPPENED TO COLTON?
After Colton was sent outside for misbehaving he decided to take off. The third grader, whose mother describes as 'special needs', took off and slid under the school gate.
Once outside, Colton walked to the corner and crossed the street. He then flagged down a truck and got inside the stranger's vehicle. What could have been a heartbreaking situation, thankfully ended peacefully.
MAKING IT HOME
Colton was dropped off at his home just a mile and a half away from the school. A doorbell camera records Colton safely being dropped off at his home.
RESPONSE FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Northside ISD officials have responded to the situation admitting there was a break in protocol. "The teacher should have called the front office for an administrator, or a counselor, or another campus staff to assist in the matter," said Barry Perez, Northside Independent School District Communications Director.
Northside ISD wants to use this particular situation as a way to reinforce instruction to teachers on how to handle similar situations in the future.
