New Superman Movie Inspires Huge Surge in Dog Adoptions
So I wouldn't really consider myself a fan of Super Hero movies, but after watching the new Superman movie, COUNT ME IN!! The movie had me laughing, crying, and cheering! But the best part of this movie had to have been the adoptive dog that stood by Superman’s side, Krypto.
Move over, David Corenswet (the dude who plays Superman) because there’s a new fan-favorite in Superman, and he’s got four legs! Yup, we’re talking about Krypto, the scrappy superdog who might not be leash-trained, but definitely knows how to throw paws when the world’s in danger.

Inspired by James Gunn’s real-life rescue pup Ozu, Krypto is a Terrier-Schnauzer CGI king with a heart of gold and energy that screams “zoomies all day.” Since the movie dropped, Google searches for “adopt a dog near me” soared by 513% and it’s safe to say that we can thank Krypto for that.

According to dog training app Woofz, interest in adopting a rescue dog skyrocketed. Even more specific? “Adopt a schnauzer” searches jumped by 299%, proving people really want a super pup of their own.
And it gets better because Warner Bros. and Best Friends Animal Society teamed up to cover adoption fees from July 1–10, resulting in 454 pets finding forever homes.
Beyond the pup love, Superman also gave us a few gentle punches to the soul: a reminder to be kind, a subtle nod to political chaos, and a very human take on what it means to do the right thing, even when the world’s on fire.
