Residents in northeast El Paso will now have more space at Skyline Optimist Park to enjoy recreation activities, walking, jogging, and green space.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Wednesday morning, August 5, at 8:30 a.m. at Skyline Park, 5050 Yvette Street.

The $1,073,076 construction project was funded by fiscal year 2012-2013 Certificates of Obligation, as well as by the El Paso Water Utilities. The new addition was built next to the existing park in its southwest corner.

This newly renovated park includes:

  • 2 full-size athletic fields
  • A new ADA compliant concrete walking path with picnic tables
  • Trash receptacles
  • New trees, shrubs and landscaping around the entire perimeter of the park

The project compliments the existing amenities at Skyline Park which include a recreation center, four other athletic fields, as well as two baseball fields and playground equipment.

This project is part of the City of El Paso’s commitment to improving quality of life through educational, cultural and recreational environments.
