The first day of school for Socorro ISD students is on August 17 and while there was always a sense of uncertainty going into a brand-new school year, those unknowns are significantly amped up this year.  In order to provide families with a dedicated means of communicating with the school district, Socorro ISD officials announced they’ll be launching a call center on the first day of school aimed at assisting parents with any questions or concerns they may have.

SISD’s Parent Education Support and Communication Call Center can be reached by calling 915-937-PRNT or 915-937-7768 and will be available to take calls Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  Families who are unable to call between those hours can send emails at anytime by addressing it to parent-help@sisd.net

Call center employees will be on hand to provide everything form simple information regarding instructional calendars to helpful guidance on things such as curriculum, attendance, technology, textbooks, and even social and emotional support.  SISD officials also plan on the new call center to be instrumental for fostering parental involvement during a time when volunteers are unable to assist at campuses directly.

As the world has changed, the public education system has had to reevaluate and adapt its usually available resources quickly in an effort to make sure children are still be given adequate instruction that hopefully exceeds what these children are entitled to.  This is another good example of schools doing something different in order to improve the service it provides.
