The Plaza Classic Film Festival is welcoming back actor Sam Elliot and Katherine Ross as special guests this year.

The 12th Annual Plaza Classic Film Festival is happy to announce that they have invited Sam Elliot and his wife Katherine Ross for the 50th-anniversary screening of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and will also be honoring Katharine Ross with its Plaza Classic Lifetime Achievement Award.

Katherine Ross actually co-starred with Paul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid while Sam Elliot had a smaller role.

Both Elliot and Ross will appear for on-stage interviews before the 50th-anniversary screening of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid at 7 p.m. Friday, August 2, as well as the 1978 cult horror classic The Legacy at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019.

Interestingly enough both Elliot and Ross began dating during the filming of The Legacy and in 1984 the two got married.

Sam Elliot drew a big crowd last year for the U.S. premiere of the film The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot at the Plaza Classic Film Festival and also received the Plaza Classic Lifetime Achievement Award for his more than 50-year career, including movies and TV shows such as Mask, Tombstone, and The Big Lebowski.

The Plaza Classic Film Festival will hit downtown El Paso from August 1 through August 11, 2019.

Individual tickets go on sale in early July and festival passes are on sale now via plazaclassic.com/tickets. For more information call, 915-533- 4020.
