If you're wondering why we celebrate Pride in June? That's because the origin of Pride month dates back to the Stonewall Riots in June of 1969. During this time, a gay club called Stonewall Inn in NYC was raided by police. A nearby crowd, notably consisting of trans people of color as well as other people within the LGBTQ+ community, grew restless and began to fight back. That incident fanned the flame into what continues to be an ongoing fight for healthcare and human rights for the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride is for everyone who celebrates their loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community and is all about love. Have a happy and fabulous Pride at the El Paso Zoo and at these great Pride events around El Paso!
