A television anchor’s Prince-related sportscast has cost him his job

Dan Phillips, who until recently was employed by WZTV in Nashville, decided to pay homage to his “favorite musical artist” by peppering his sports report with references to Prince song titles and song lyrics.

But some viewers evidently found it “insensitive” and management apparently agreed because according to a post on Phillips Facebook page, he was fired on Friday.

I’ve watched the report several times and personally didn’t find anything callous or disrespectful with it. In fact, I thought it was rather clever. It’s not like he was making fun of Prince or his death.

Check it below and tell me what you think. We report, you decide.
