PCFF Screening Liz Taylor Movie At Her Once Plaza Hotel Penthouse
The Plaza Classic Film Festival will screen Father of The Bride starring Elizabeth Taylor, at her former penthouse at the Plaza Hotel this summer.
The largest classic film festival in the world returns to the heart of downtown El Paso in July, featuring special guests F. Murray Abraham and Rita Moreno. The annual Plaza Classic Film Festival will screen over 90 classic films, including an outdoor screening of the 1950 film Father of The Bride atop the Plaza Hotel.
Before Steve Martin and Martin Short made their hilarious version of Father of the Bride in the 90s, Spencer Tracy and Liz Taylor portrayed the original Banks family. The romantic comedy is so popular that Warner Brothers will release a Latin-centric version starring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estephan next month.
What's even more exciting is that the original film will be screened at La Perla, the new rooftop bar and restaurant at the Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park, which was once the former penthouse of Elizabeth Taylor.
La Perla, located on the 17th floor, is considered the crowning jewel of the Plaza Hotel and was reimagined as an exclusive rooftop bar and restaurant offering panoramic views, vintage cocktails, and fresh seafood dishes.
The 106-plus-year-old landmark Plaza Hotel is steeped in history and has drawn in many celebrities, such as one of Hollywood's golden stars, Elizabeth Taylor, who once lived in its storied penthouse. Taylor was once married to Conrad Hilton's son, Nicky, and the Plaza Hotel penthouse became her living space while filming the 1956 blockbuster movie Giant.
Don't miss the special screening of Father of the Bride starring Elizabeth Taylor at her once former penthouse at the Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park on Tuesday, August 8, 2022.
