The New Mexico police department is asking for any information to the whereabouts of an 8-month-old girl who was abducted Monday afternoon when a car thief stole a vehicle with the child inside.

The vehicle was stolen on Monday, April 11th about 2 p.m. just outside of Albuquerque.

According to New Mexico police the child, Ariana Smith was allegedly abducted by Leighraughnzo Benally when he stole the vehicle in the area of Central Avenue SW and 118th St.

The Bernalillo County Sheriffs Office say that vehicle was last seen going east bound on I-40 from 9 mile hill at the sand dunes.

The vehicle is described as 2004 Acura SUV, maroon in color with Arizona license plates: BEX719

The suspect in question is 23-year-old Leighraughnzo Benally who is 5’7, 140 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with blue jeans or khaki pants and a black baseball hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.

UPDATE: Ariana Smith was found in the stolen Acura SUV with the windows rolled up around 6:30 p.m. in a Northwest Albuquerque neighborhood. She was unharmed and now with her parents.
