New Mexico's biggest weekend for back to school shopping is upon us. The Gross Receipts Tax Holiday, which has become a shopping event much like Black Friday but without all the early morning Walmart trampling, is set for the weekend of August 7.

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. that Friday through midnight Sunday, August 9, Las Crucens can save money at the cash register on many back-to items and clothing. But not everything is exempt. Qualifying items you can buy tax free include:

• All clothing and shoes under $100 per unit
• School supplies under $30 per unit
• Computers under $1,000
• Computer equipment under $500

A complete list of what will and will not be taxed can be found HERE.
