Many people can not stand the sticky feeling of mosquito repellent. Well living in an area where mosquitos are moving quickly and possibly spreading a serious disease, you might want to cover your whole body in it.

Being pregnant, I have been super paranoid about what is going on and in my body. While some sprays you can easily buy at a store are safe to use, I don't like the smell.

That is where safe natural ways to keep those pesky mosquitos away come in handy.

I took to Google and some TikTok videos for these ideas. My mom's favorite remedy is old-school Skin So Soft. I've heard others say the new version doesn't work the same, so just a heads up.

Witch Hazel Concoction
Boil mint, sage, rosemary, lavender, and thyme. Make sure to cover the mixture with a lid. Once they have boiled, strain and mix it into a spray bottle filled halfway with witch hazel.

Garlic Rub or Garlic Spray
If you want to be all-natural, Rural Sprout recommends rubbing garlic directly onto your skin. If that grosses you out, you can mix the garlic with water and biodegradable dish soap.

Lavender
I attempted to grow my own lavender tree and I blame all the El Paso rain for it dying. It drowned and that was my fault. I wish I could revive it but nope. So I will have to find some more fresh lavender to crush up and use the oil to repel mosquitos. You can use essential oils but you can also support flower farms and buy it directly.

Planting Smelly Plants in Your Yard
If you like sitting outside without getting attacked, you can either plant these beauties in your yard or in a pot and place them around your seating areas, according to RuralSprout.com:

  • Citronella
  • Basil
  • Marigolds
  • Peppermint
  • Pennyroyal
  • Geranium
  • Lavender
  • Lemon balm
  • Catnip

Sit By a Fan

Seriously, take a box fan or a standing fan and just put it by you. Mosquitos can't fly against the force of the air. Seriously, that easy.
