A little over 20 years ago, some 6-year-old kid sent a letter to MR. ROGERS, asking if he could come visit him at his house. Well let's just say it wasn't a great day to be his neighbor.

Mr. Rogers couldn't let the boy visit him...I'm guessing for security reasons (???)...so he sent the kid the sweetest, kindest rejection letter ever.

He let the kid down really easy, then said, quote, "Even though we can't have a real visit, it is good that we can have television visits and a letter visit like this one. He also stated, "You might want to pretend about a visit we'd have together.  When you pretend, things can be any way you want them to be."

Here's the letter in its entirety...why don't you pretend you read it. Pretending is fun!
