El Pasoans Favorite Mom “Superpowers”
With Mother's Day right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about all the things my mom used to do that I definitely didn't appreciate growing up but now, I get it!
When we’re kids, moms just have this way of proving they have superpowers. The house is clean, there’s food on the table, your clothes somehow make it from the hamper back into your drawer, and somehow always knows where your missing shoe is because… she’s mom!
There are so many “mom superpowers” we totally missed as kids, and now as adults who may have kids of our own, we realise that mom wasn’t trying to be annoying, she was legit just a super hero!

Mom Superpowers We Didn’t Appreciate as Kids… But Now Totally Get
- Finding things that were literally right in front of us
- Knowing when we were lying… before we even finished the sentence
- Making something out of nothing—meals, outfits, solutions
- Functioning on zero sleep like it was no big deal
- Giving us “the look” that somehow said everything without a word
- Loving us through every phase… even the ones we’d like to forget

And maybe the biggest one of all? Showing up. Every single day. Even when they were tired. Even when we didn’t say thank you. Even when we didn’t fully see it. That’s the part that hits different as an adult.
So with Mother’s Day almost here, consider this your little reminder: the things you once rolled your eyes at might be the very things you admire most now. And if you’re lucky enough to still have your mom around, tell her. Call her. Text her. Say the thing.
