With new selections from Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas' diverse culinary scene is now on the international map. First, lets make sure we know the difference between the Michelin-starred restaurants and whatever the heck a "Bib Gourmand" restaurant is! (Cause I didn't know until today.)

A Bib Gourmand restaurant is one recognized by Michelin as offering high-quality food at a reasonable price. The idea is that diners can enjoy two courses along with a glass of wine or dessert for around $50 (before tax and tip). So, if you’re looking for great eats without breaking the bank, a Bib Gourmand spot is a solid choice—think excellent flavors without the fine-dining price tag. Okay, cool, so what the heck does "Michelin-starred" mean?

The Michelin rating is basically the gold standard for restaurants worldwide. Michelin stars (up to three) are awarded to places with outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. One star means “very good” in its category, two stars mean it's worth a detour, and three stars mean it’s worth a special trip. Earning even one star is a huge honor—it’s like a restaurant’s way of saying, “Yep, we’re that good.”
