This year the Father Rahm Segundo Barrio Person of the Year Award goes to local artist, Gaspar Enriquez.

Enriquez is a local artist who retired from teaching from Bowie High School but continues to create his art with various projects. His art can be seen at the Southwest University Park where he was commissioned to do several pieces for the Chihuahua’s ballpark. He is also working on restoring an ancient adobe building to studio spaces in the 400-year-old presidio of San Elizario in El Paso's Mission Valley.

The Father Rahm Segundo Barrio Person of the Year Award recognizes an individual or organization committed to the betterment, works and service to the cultural, historical, economic, educational and social empowerment of the Segundo Barrio (Second Ward), and its inhabitants, values and unique experience.

The mission of the Father Rahm Segundo Barrio Person of the Year Award is to highlight, support and expand the unique historical and cultural imprint of the Segundo Barrio, its people and place in the history of the Paso del Norte region, with particular emphasis to the contribution of the Mexican-American and Chicano experience, anchored in family, faith, and the American immigrant experience including the contribution of the Society of Jesus through Sacred Heart parish, its ministries to the Segundo Barrio, El Paso and the region.
