Live Music Returns to Speaking Rock, Drowning Pool Concert Set
When we recently asked El Pasoans what activity they’ve missed doing most over the last year, attending concerts and live music events was one of the most frequent replies we received.
More shots in more arms and the continuation of the safe practices we’ve learned in the last twelve months has resulted in the live music experience slowly returning to clubs, bars, and other venues around town. That growing list now includes Speaking Rock.
The entertainment center recently set up a stage on its outdoor patio and is now cranking up the volume with mostly local band on Fridays and Saturdays while still following public health guidelines.
“As we start to slowly introduce live music and concerts to our venue, we know this pandemic isn’t completely over,” Speaking Rock said in a recent social media post. “Although we know other venues are more relaxed than others, we will continue to err on the side of caution.”
Precautions being taken include everyone being required to wear masks and stay socially distanced, and capacity in the outdoor plaza limited by virtue of a first-come, first-served basis.
April’s outdoor show schedule is already looking as fully stocked as the venue’s bar with local bands every Friday and Saturday evening and a weekly Mariachi Sunday afternoon feature.
They’ve even booked the Platinum selling rock band Drowning Pool for a gig on April 16. The band is best known for its 2001 fist-pumping moshpit favorite, “Bodies”
