Congrats to Khalid on his BMI Pop Award win for Songwriter of the Year!

It's no secret that Khalid began writing his own music during his attendance at America's high school in El Paso - flash forward a few years and now Khalid has received the award for Songwriter of the Year at this year’s virtual 68th annual BMI Pop Awards.

Earlier this week, some of the hottest recording artists of the year scored a BMI Pop Award during a virtual event (because COVID 19 pandemic) including Halsey, Post Malone, Imagine Dragons, Jonas Brothers, Sam Smith and our favorite El Pasoan, Khalid.

Khalid and Post Malone actually both received a BMI Pop Award for Songwriter Of The Year as both singer/songwriters co-wrote four of BMI’s top-performed songs of 2019 -- in each case, three songs on which they were the lead (or co-lead) artist and one on which they were the featured artist.

Khalid received his award in L.A. where he currently lives and sent a message out to his fans on social media saying how thankful and “grateful, I wanna give a big shout out to all the fans because this would not have happened without you guys…”.

Congrats on yet another win for Khalid – even though we won’t be seeing him in concert anytime soon, we hope he at least drops some new music this fall.
