Khalid Plays Santa at EPISD Elementary School
Santa had a special “Location” Monday Morning: Crockett Elementary School.
Singer Khalid surprised students at the Central El Paso school by hand delivering gifts to every one of them. He wasn't wearing a red suit and his beard isn't white, but the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter played the role of Santa Claus to a "t" greeting every single student with a Christmas present and a smile.
Khalid’s mother, Linda Wolfe, organized the event. According to a post on the EPISD Facebook, Ms. Wolfe "was looking for a way to have her son stay involved in the improvement of El Paso." The singer bought all the presents handed out, per district officials.
Born in Georgia, Khalid has lived all over the U.S. and six years in Germany. He ended up in El Paso a couple of years ago after his mother was relocated to Fort Bliss. He spent his senior year at Americas High School, and has called El Paso home ever since.
“It means the world to me to come back to El Paso and give out gifts to the kids because with everything that I’ve done, with every award, I’ve always thanked El Paso,” said Khalid. “I feel like this is definitely a home for me so to see the smiles on all the kids’ faces when I gave them all the gifts is something I will carry with me wherever I go.”
