Arguably the most famous ‘American Idol‘ alumna, Kelly Clarkson’s single ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ off her album ‘Stronger’ became the best-selling ‘Idol’ single of all time, knocking fellow ‘Idol’ winner Carrie Underwood back to second place. Underwood held the title when her single ‘Before He Cheats’ was released.

As of July 5, ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ has sold 3,510,000 million copies, and if you feel like comparing, ‘Before He Cheats’ sold 3,509,000 million copies back in 2006. Even though Clarkson can take a bow for her incredible achievement, Underwood still holds the crown for most albums sold. To date, she has sold a total of 13,205,000 albums, whereas Clarkson has sold 11,664,000 — not too shabby for either party. BUT! If we were to count the total digital downloads of singles, Clarkson wins that race with a whopping 24,100,000 sold compared to Underwood’s 22,535,000 sold.
