Jennifer Lawrence And Bradley Cooper Join Forces Again In ‘Joy’
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and in the case of Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, it's best to leave the toolbox in the shed.
The actors, who appeared together in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, will join forces in Joy, the upcoming true story of Joy Mangano. Lawrence will play the titular character, a young mother of three who struggles on the path to starting a successful business empire, and Cooper will play a Home Shopping Network executive who helps Mangano get her Miracle Mop product off the ground.
"Don't ever think that the world owes you anything, because it doesn't," Lawrence's character insists in the trailer above between footage that finds her squaring off with police, trekking through major snowfall and shooting off multiple rounds with a shotgun. If we didn't know any better, we'd say we were in for another installment of the Hunger Games series.
Writer-director David O. Russell, who directed Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, will direct the film. Robert De Niro, who played Cooper's father in Playbook, will also star. Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd and Virginia Madsen round out the cast.
According to Deadline, Mangano was deemed the "Mother of Invention" after selling her Ingenious Designs products to HSN in a multi-million dollar deal. She is still the company's president and Fast Company ranked her among its 10 most creative women in business.
Check out the trailer, share your thoughts and be sure to see Joy in theaters on December 25!
