Words of Encouragement For El Pasoans Going Back to School
When I was young, I remember being very nervous going back to the school. It didn't matter if it was kindergarten, middle school, high school, or college. Nowadays, I can imagine plenty of kids, parents & teachers feeling nervous or stressed whenever school rolls back around. Especially the cost of living going up & parents having to spend much money on supplies & teachers actually paying out of pocket on their classrooms.
I decided to ask people in the school districts in El Paso, "what words of motivation would you use for anyone who's going back to school?".
I got many results from educators in El Paso who work in a variety of academic settings. I can't share all of them because there were many responses, but I'll share a couple of them here:
"With perseverance, you can reach anything!" - David Marmolejo, Teacher.
"Every year brings new challenges, new learning experiences, and new friends. Enjoy the ride and make some memories!" - Erica Collins, Educational Diagnostician
"Work hard everyday and always believe in yourself" - Dr. Paola Vasquez, Region 19
"Join all the clubs and organizations that interest you. Don’t think about it. Just do it. Time flies and you don’t want to have moments of “what if or I should have”." - Kim Loy, Educational Diagnostician
"There is not elevator to success. Every step you take to get there is indicative of the hard work you’ve put in." - Blanca Villanueva, Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
'Whatever happened yesterday is in the past. Learn from your mistakes and start each day with a positive thought." - Melinda Alvarado, Teacher's Assistant
"School can be hard at times. First, if you’re experiencing problems, talk to someone, help is out there. Secondly, don’t let failure defeat you, learn from it." -Liz Marrufo, Retired Visually Impaired Teacher.
"Excellence Everyday from Everybody" - Tina Wright, Principal
"Work hard Be kind to others and yourself" - Martha Franco Garcia, Teacher
"You are unique, there’s no one out there like you! Stay true to yourself" - Margaret Gallardo, Teacher
"Set a goal whether it’s daily, weekly, or a yearly goal and focus on accomplishing the goal." - Elizabeth Ryden, Speech Language Pathologist
"Plan your attack this year then...attack the plan! You got this!" - Gloria Macias Defrance, Speech Language Pathologist
My own mom, a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) who's works for YISD gave her own words of encouragement:
"Starting a new year can be tough but you have everything you need to succeed inside you. Let’s make this year the best school year!" - Marlene Paulus
"You can handle anything just breathe and take it one day at a time. Ask for help and write things down so you don’t forget!" - Heather Frausto, SLP
And let's not forget those powerful words from the 2018 EPISD Teacher of The Year a couple of years ago...
"The Future is Bright and it is Ours to Enjoy!" - Enrique Luna, SLP
We wish everyone going back to school a safe & successful school year.
