Texas loves food, especially desserts. Some are iconic dishes, other are classic recipes with a local twist to them. Whether you visit Texas or you've lived here, there are certain dessert items that everyone needs to have at least once.

There are some other dessert ideas we love here in Texas; some people have made their own creative recipes and posted them online. For example:

  • There's a recipe for "Texas Mud"; a chocolate recipe that's similar to both a brownie or cookie bar that has a marshmallow crème on top (or middle if you like a ton of chocolate on top).
  • Another person made their own recipe called the "Better Than Sex" Texas Dessert; a dessert that contains vanilla & chocolate pudding sprinkled with pecans and a grated chocolate bar.
  • Other Texas themed recipes include "Mom's Texas Delight" or the "Texas Trash Pie" (don't let the name fool you; there is absolutely NO trash in the recipe).

Some people have also decided to attempt making more Texas recipes like the YouTuber Brutalmoose; he posted a video where he attempts to bake the "Texas Yum Yum" & "Cowboy Bark", a recipe that's similar to what is found at Traders Joe's.

One more to mention are the Texas Twinkies; even though they're cheese & brisket stuffed jalapeño peppers wrapped in bacon, I wouldn't mind if someone made a sweet version of these involving maybe a deep fried Twinkie with maple glazed bacon wrapped around it. Just a thought...

Not only do we loving making food, but we love making BIG food too. You can read about some Texas food world records here.
