These Wet N’ Wild Videos Have El Paso Reliving Its Best Summers

If you grew up in El Paso during the ‘80s and '90s, there's a good chance at least one summer memory starts at Wet N' Wild.

For me, it meant counting down the days until my parents finally said we were going. We'd pack everything we owned into a cooler, spend hours debating which slide to ride first and somehow stay until closing, even though our fingers looked like raisins!

It turns out I wasn't the only one feeling nostalgic, because Wet N' Wild's latest Instagram videos have the comments section filled with people reliving some of their favorite childhood memories.

Wet N' Wild's Throwback Videos Took El Paso Back in Time

As part of the "What were you like in the '90s?" trend, Wet N' Wild shared a pair of throwback videos featuring vintage footage of the park, including clips from a 1992 commercial.

The videos are a fun reminder of just how much the park has changed over the last three decades. Today's Wet N' Wild has more slides, private cabanas and attractions that didn't exist back then, but watching those old clips proves one thing hasn't changed: it's still one of El Paso's favorite places to cool off during the summer.

The second it popped up on my screen, I actually laughed because I had convinced myself that giant whale was some weird childhood fever dream. Seeing it again instantly unlocked memories I hadn't thought about in years.

For one person, it's the wave pool. For someone else, it's finally being tall enough to ride their favorite slide. For me, it was realizing that the whale slide really did exist after all!

Sure, the park has grown over the past 30 years. There are new attractions, new ways to spend the day and plenty of upgrades that have kept Wet N' Wild a summertime favorite for new generations.

But the feeling hasn't changed.

When temperatures climb into the triple digits, there's still something special about spending the day at Wet N' Wild with family or friends. Those throwback videos are a fun reminder of where the park started, how far it's come and why, after all these years, it still feels like one of the best places to spend a hot El Paso summer day.
