Dubba G’s Favorite, Kinda, Memory Of Las Cruces Warped Tours
The Vans Warped Tour, (through the early - mid 2000's or so), used to came through the Borderland around this time of year and we were SOO there.
The Q's presence at the Warped Tour on the NMSU campus started after Cruces had already hosted a few. First, we did remotes on site, then we did live updates throughout the day and, finally, I started doing my show live from there. Eventually, Scott Ronson did too - they were sooo much fun.
There were multiple stages, (nearly), constant entertainment and a steady stream of zealous fans determined not to miss a minute.
Of course, there was no way to really catch every. single thing but fans did their best thanks to printed schedules that told them what stage their favorites would be on and when.
A Day At The Warped Tour
For us, it started early, way before gates were even open. Our techs got there around 7:30 and I'd show up around 8. (Ok, 8:30. 8:45) We'd get the RV going and set up the broadcast area, then I'd go backstage where they had a media sign up board.
The nice thing about getting there so early to set up is I was usually the first one back there and I put us down for EEEEEEE-very band I thought we could cram into the day. As the day goes on, schedules start to unravel and some get missed so I went after everybody.

After that, it was showtime for me so, back to our tent I went and spent my air shift running back and forth backstage between breaks to collect the bands I needed on air. Long, hot, stressful day but I loved every minute of it.
Dubba G's Adventures
At the 2011 Warped Tour, we had a Harley we were signing people up to win. I trailered it up there with my truck and we parked it in our broadcast area. Then Program Director Courtney Nelson, (R.I.P.) also brought along a mini dirt bike that I managed to get in trouble on pretty much right off.
It's toward the end ...
So much for joyrides.
Luckily, (despite pleas from my boss for them to take me in), they were cool and didn't bother us for the rest of the day. As long as we stayed where we were supposed to be. Took our word for it about what was in our cups too.
