
National Bands With A Splash Of El Paso In ‘Em
There have been lots of internationally acclaimed rock bands that had great, success with help from El Paso rockers. Here are a few, including one that really milked the 915.
Several El Paso born artists have hit the big time including At The Drive In, Khalid, Sparta, Cigarettes After Sex, Mars Volta and Pissing Razors just to name a (very) few.
Some other "Local Locos" broke through in other bands that were not homegrown, El Paso based acts.
It's truly a long way to the top but, with a little help from El Chuco, it may be a tad easier. A lot of big name bands have benefitted from having an El Pasoan in the ranks. Some had 1 or 2, some had even more. We'll get to who had the most shortly.
Some El Paso rockers who made it big include Charlie, "Chalo", Quintana who was in an El Paso based band, The Cruzados, before doing about 10 years with Social Distortion. The Cruzados also gave us Tito Lariva.
Pissing Razors drummer Eddy Razor has also been in Overkill. John Moyer started out in El Paso with Soak and is now the bassist for Disturbed but the band that has mined El Paso the most has got to be Ministry. Along with transplants Mike Scaccia (RIP) Mark Baker and Darrel James; came these guys:

Granted, some of them moved here when Al Jourgensen did but, hey, they lived here ... even if briefly ... so it counts. Once an El Pasoan, always an El Pasoan, right? I know I didn't touch on all the great talent that El Paso has given the world but I will.
