Remember The OTHER UFO Sighting in This New Mexico City
When you think of aliens in New Mexico, your first thought is probably the 1947 Roswell UFO crash. While that is most certainly the most famous case of UFO sightings, it's not the only one told in the state of New Mexico. Over 60 years ago, New Mexico had ANOTHER well known UFO story involving a police officer and the city of Socorro, New Mexico back in 1964.
This New Mexico story became known as the Lonnie Zamora UFO Incident
On a Friday evening in April 24, 1964, Police Sergeant Lonnie Zamora would spot, as he described, "an egg-shaped craft" hovering in the sky above Socorro before settling down in an arroyo.
Zamora drive his car down to the dirt road to investigate; he would call for backup to aid with assistance. His back would not arrive in time as the unknown craft would blast out blue flames and take off in a haste, leaving burned bushes and tire marks left from the craft's landing gear.
While some people think it was a student prank or perhaps a piece of equipment from White Sands Missile Range, Lonnie Zamora was absolutely convinced that what he saw was an alien space ship. It's impossible to know for certain what was seen that night but you can tell he was believed that he indeed saw an alien space craft that fateful Friday afternoon.
New Mexico isn't the only state with UFO sightings, Texas might be the first one to spot them. You can read that story here.
