El Paso Chihuahuas Helped Texas Rangers Win First World Series

After 5 decades of trying to win their first MLB World Series, the Texas Rangers from Arlington, Texas FINALLY scored their first after beating the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-0 in Game 5. Among the stars on the Rangers, a few of them represented the Chihuahuas baseball team from El Paso, Texas.

Which El Paso Chihuahuas play for the Texas Rangers?

On the El Paso Chihuahuas Instagram page, just before the World Series started, they posted an image of two players; outfielder Travis Jankowski & catcher Austin Hedges. You can see that Travis was sporting the #2 while playing for the Chihuahuas baseball.

When playing for the Rangers, Travis was sporting the #16 and Austin the #11.

Ever since the start of the Chihuahuas team in 2014, both players have been stars so it was no surprise they would make it into the big leagues.

There was also a former pitcher from UTEP on the Texas Rangers, Mike Maddox who's the Ranger's pitching coach.

Of course with the Round Rock Express being the Triple A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, many Round Rock players ended up playing for the Rangers on the winning team; such names included Cody Bradford, Evan Carter, Mitch Garver, Josh Lung, José Leclerc, Martín Pérez, Josh Sborz, Josh Smith, & Leody Taveras.

I know it took a long time but congratulations to the Texas Rangers for their very first championship & thanks for taking some of our local baseball players to a championship as well!
