A7X & The Rev Are Always Loved in El Paso, Texas & Las Cruces, NM
Before the world lost one of the greatest drummers in metal history; both El Paso, Texas & Las Cruces, New Mexico enjoyed seeing Avenged Sevenfold live with The Rev during his lifetime. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan would pass away on December 28, 2009 but both El Paso & Las Cruces would see The Rev a total of 5 times.
When did Avenged Sevenfold play El Paso
Avenged would actually play El Paso at least twice;
- Aug 29, 2002 at Wild Hare's, which is NOW RAD Retrocade on the west side of El Paso, during their Sounding the Seventh Trumpet Tour.
- and on April 6, 2008 during the Taste of Chaos tour at the El Paso County Coliesum.
Sadly while there's not photos of videos from their 2002 show, there IS fan footage from the 2008 concert. Not the best quality but it IS something.
When did Avenged Sevenfold play Las Cruces?
Our neighbors to the west, Las Cruces was more lucky when seeing Avenged Sevenfold. They saw them 3 times.
- Twice during the Warped Tour; in 2003 & 2005. Fun fact, 2003 was the first time Las Cruces became a regular stop for the Warped Tour.
- And their last concert was at the Pan American Center in 2009
Amazingly, the 2009 show was April 11... just 8 months before The Rev's untimely passing.
Lisa Sanchez was also fortunate enough to interview Johnny Christ back in 2013 in ABQ, NM when they were on tour. Of course The Rev was mentioned as the band still misses him.
While it's sad that I never got to see The Rev live, at least we can take solace in knowing that he DID come to El Paso & gave us (and Las Cruces) some incredible memories.
R.I.P. Jimmy... we miss you man.
