Half Of The 10 Most Neighborly Towns In New Mexico Are Near El Paso
El Paso is way friendly but those who want to get away to the friendliest towns in New Mexico don't have very far to go. In fact, #10 is practically IN El Paso.
World Atlas ranked New Mexico's most friendly towns and most are pretty close to El Paso. Half of them are super close and one of them, #10, may as well be in the 915.
Mesilla, on the outskirts of El Paso, is a beautiful place and one of my all time favorite places to hang out. So tranquil and laid back, my wife and I decided to get married there. We did it at Hacienda de Mesilla - an absolute must see/eat/stay spot when in Mesilla.
The next closest spots on the World Atlas list are all, (almost), the same distance from El Paso.
Cloudcroft is only 108 miles from here and it's loaded with fun stuff to do. Stop by The Lodge while you're there. Soak up some history and a drink or two while you ghost hunt for the legendary Rebecca.
136 miles from El Chuco, (43 miles from Cloudcroft), is Ruidoso. Among other things, horse racing, 2 casinos, a world class hotel, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, golf, hunting, crazy elk and more.
Going the other way, still only about a 2 hour drive, you'll find Silver City. Don't mean to be redundant but, again, a beautiful place with lots to do. You can check out a gigantic ... we're talking mega huge here ... mine too.
If you like the water, go about 2 hours north, through Las Cruces via I-25, to Truth or Consequences. Right next to Elephant Butte, you've got fishing, swimming, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, etc. Camping is permitted and there's also RV parking.
Rounding Out The List:
- Taos - 6 hours
- Las Vegas - 4 hours
- Jemez - 5 hours ... Jemez has 1 of NM's best swimmin' holes
- Madrid - 4.5 hours
- Chimayo - 5 hours ... Chimayo is said to be one of the holiest places in the world.
