Since the advent of television, Hollywood has repeatedly portrayed life within the Permian Basin on the small screen.

In 2025, one of the most profound depictions of life in the Permian Basin can easily be credited to the smash-hit Paramount+  TV show Landman.

It's a show that follows the ups, downs, trials, and tribulations of a VP of a major oil company as he navigates through his life.

While the suits and writers in Hollywood likely assume this is an accurate portrayal of what the life of an oilman living in Midland-Odessa actually looks like.

To us who live here, we easily spotted the inconsistencies and differences in the show.

Still, in my opinion, it is still a wildly entertaining show.

The Return of Landman: Season 2

Landman isn’t just another TV show; to locals, it indirectly pays homage to the hardworking men and women who work in the oil fields in real life, all wrapped in a dramatic and creative storyline.

The Taylor Sheridan-created series returns on Paramount+ on November 16, 2025, packed with pressure, power plays, and oil-field drama straight from West Texas.

(SEASON ONE SPOILER WARNING)

Season one ended with Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) apparently dying and Tommy awkwardly stepping into power, a position he kind of knew he would eventually acquire.

Then, if you throw in the situation with the cartel and the issues he has had with them, season two is shaping up to be another homerun for Mr. Sheridan.

Will you be watching season two of Landman?  Let us know.
