However, Texas has another flower that you don't hear much about unless it is being hurled as an insult.

The Turd Blossom

The Turd Blossom or the Sand Turd is a flower that is well known for growing on cow [poo].  The Turd Blossom is not to be confused with psychedelic mushrooms which also grow on cow [poo].

What is a Turd Blossom?

This flower blooms from the excrement of cows.  If you're lucky you might run across one just sprouting in the middle of a field. Although this particular flower is a phenomenon, most flowers like a little cow [poo] in their soil.

If you've run across one of these Texas flowers you are lucky than most.  It's quite hard to find the perfect pile of cow [poo], and the bloom of a turd blossom flower.  If you do run into one of these Turd Blossoms, my advice would be to not smell it and whatever you do, don't give it to the person you're trying to impress.

The Truth About the Turd Blossom

The true nature of the Turd Blossom is just a fun-loving name our 43rd President George W. Bush, gave to his Chief Political Advisor Karl Rove.

After he began using the term "Turd Blossom," it kind of spread and took on its own form, it became a fun little insult, and a lot of people name their pet snakes Turd Blossom.  It's kind of crazy if you think about it.
