TxDOT Announces Exit Change Between Amarillo and Canyon
One of the most dreaded things that people in Amarillo and Canyon have to deal with is construction. Right now, the corridor between Amarillo and Canyon, I-27, is under major construction as crews expand the interstate to four lanes.
It's a headache, and this headache isn't going to end until 2028, which means almost 3 more years of construction. As the construction moves ahead, changes come and go, and those changes always inconvenience commuters

New Traffic Patterns Start Friday, January 16th
The Texas Department of Transportation wants you to be prepared for the traffic pattern to change on Friday, January 16th.
Navigating the FM 2219 and McCormick Exit Closure
The northbound I-27 exit ramp to FM 2219 and McCormick Road will be closed as crews continue work. You will find the new exit ramp just south of Rockwell Road. The new exit ramp will provide access to the northbound frontage road as well as FM 2219 and McCormick Road. If you miss this exit, your next chance will be Sundown Lane, and then you will have to backtrack.
"If you are traveling north on I-27 and are used to exiting at FM 2219, you will need to let your brain know that your new exit is at Rockwell Road starting this Friday. However, if you don't remember, they will have messages and signs posted to remind you of the change.

It'll eventually be a nice road to travel, but right now it is a mess. If you are traveling this road, please always use caution and follow the posted speed limit. With the narrow lanes, a wreck in this construction zone shuts traffic down for hours.
Don't forget you can always keep up with lane closures here.
