Discover The Newest State Park In Texas: Palo Pinto Mountains Park
If you are someone who enjoys visiting Texas' state parks and you like the great outdoors, you will probably be thrilled to learn that Texas is getting a new State Park and construction is underway right now to get the park ready.
Roughly 75 miles west of Fort Worth sits the location of the all new Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. It will be the first state park to open in Texas in more than two decades and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department believe it will be a popular park.
ExpressNews.com reported this week that the park sits on more than 4,800 acres of former ranch land. According to a Facebook post from Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Palo Pinto Mountains State Park will include a natural playscape, visitor center, equestrian sites, a lakefront fishing pier, and pavilion.
Texas Parks and Wildlife won't give an exact date just yet on the opening, just that at some point in 2025 the new park will open. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park was announced back in 2022 and set for a grand opening in 2023, but there have been numerous construction delays. This is one of six parks that Texas Parks and Wildlife plans to add to its system of 89 parks over the next 15 years according to expressnews.com. Officials believe the new park could attract 75,000 visitors every year.
