Lubbock ISD employees are being notified about a data security breach involving a company used by the district, and unfortunately, some of the information exposed is about as sensitive as it gets.

Lubbock ISD announced Tuesday, October 6th, that employee Social Security numbers were among the information exposed during a security incident involving Frontline Education.
The good news for parents is that, at this point, Lubbock ISD says no student information was exposed.
What Happened?
According to information provided to Lubbock ISD by Frontline Education, the security incident occurred on August 14th, 2026.
Frontline says it discovered and remediated the incident the following day, August 15th.
However, Lubbock ISD says district leadership wasn't notified by Frontline about the breach until Tuesday, October 6th...more than seven weeks later.

According to the district, information exposed in the incident included employee Social Security numbers, email addresses and physical addresses.
Lubbock ISD says it is still working to obtain additional details about exactly what happened.
Lubbock ISD Says Student Information Wasn't Exposed
One important distinction for Lubbock parents: Frontline has told the district that no Lubbock ISD student information was exposed in the incident.
Lubbock ISD says that if that information changes, families will be notified as soon as the district learns about it.
For now, this appears to be an incident involving employee information.
What Should Lubbock ISD Employees Expect?
Frontline plans to begin contacting affected individuals on October 26th.
Those notifications are expected to provide additional details about exactly what information belonging to each person was involved.

Frontline has also notified the Texas Attorney General and law enforcement agencies and is partnering with TransUnion to provide two years of credit monitoring to people affected by the breach.
A dedicated hotline has also been established at 833-516-8792. It's available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Central Time.
What Can Employees Do Right Now?
Anytime Social Security numbers are potentially involved in a data breach, it's probably a good idea to pay close attention to your credit reports, financial accounts and any unusual communications you receive.
Lubbock ISD is also directing employees to the Federal Trade Commission's official identity-theft resource, which provides steps people can take following a data breach.

Frontline says it will continue providing information to Lubbock ISD as its response continues, and the district says it will release additional updates as necessary.
For now, the biggest takeaway is pretty straightforward: Lubbock ISD employees may have had some extremely sensitive personal information exposed, but the district says there is currently no indication that student information was part of the breach.
