Texas Will Host 16 World Cup 2026 Matches In Houston And Dallas
Get ready to brush up on your soccer or "futbol" knowledge because in about 2 years from now, one of the world's largest sporting events is coming to Texas!
FIFA, the international governing body that oversees association soccer, announced the 2026 World Cup match schedule this week and Texas will be hosting a huge bulk of the action!
The 2026 tournament will be the biggest ever World Cup, expanded to 48 teams with 104 matches.
11 U.S., three Mexican, and two Canadian cities will host games but Houston and Dallas will have the most by far and away.
Dallas is hosting 9 games including a semifinal match and Houston will be hosting 7 total games.
Houston's Games Will Be Played At NRG Stadium.
Houston will host five group stage matches on June 14, 17, 20, 23, and 26.
Houston will also host a Round of 32 match on June 29 and a Round of 16 match on July 4. We almost forgot, that they won't be able to use the name "NRG STADIUM" and we explain why here.
Arlington's AT&T Stadium Will Also Host Matches
Dallas will host 5 group stage games which will be on June 14, June 17, June 22, June 25, and June 27.
Then it will host Round of 32 matches on June 30 and July 3, followed by a Round of 16 game on July 6, and then a semifinal on July 14. The nine matches hosted at AT&T Stadium (pardon us, DALLAS STADIUM) will be the most of any venue for the 2026 World Cup.
The World Cup final on July 19, 2026, will be hosted in New York/New Jersey at MetLife Stadium.
