East Texas Lottery Player Scores $2 Million Powerball Prize

(Mix 93-1) Like many other Texans, I tried winning the second-largest Powerball Lottery jackpot in history Saturday night (September 6th). Winning would have meant $1.8 billion in my pocket!

While I tried but did not win, several other Texans had the good fortune of winning. One lucky Texan is now sharing the record-setting jackpot, while someone around Tyler will soon be adding two million dollars to their bank account, and two million-dollar prizes were also won with winning tickets sold in Austin and Midlothian.

Big Wins Across Texas

After 42 consecutive drawings and not having a winner since June 2, the Powerball Lottery finally hit for two lucky tickets to win the massive amount of money. Two tickets matched all five white balls plus the Powerball, splitting the $1.8 billion annuitized jackpot. Those tickets were purchased in Fredericksburg, Texas, and Missouri.

Tyler Player Hits $2 Million

The 2-million and million-dollar winners matched all five numbers, but missed out on matching the red Powerball number. The person who picked those five numbers in Tyler opted for the power play, and that $1 extra play turned their $1M into $2M.

The 2-million-dollar winning ticket was sold at the VP Racing Fuels on ESE Loop 323.

Those winning numbers from the drawing - 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with a Powerball number of 17 - will now have a special meaning to them and to everyone else who won.

What’s Next for Powerball?

For tonight's drawing, September 8, the jackpot is back down to a measly $20 million!

While playing consistently over the last four drawings, I managed to win only $4, and that was matching a Powerball number once. I may continue to play the Powerball Lottery now, after all, they say, "You can't win if you don't play." Plus, I tell contest contestants here at the radio station all the time, be consistent and persistent, and it will eventually pay off for you.
