(Arlington, Texas) Six Flags Over Texas fans are upset over the news that the park will be removing another family favorite ride from its lineup in the Spain section in preparation for the debut of the new record-setting dive coaster that is currently under construction for the 2026 season.

What’s Next for the Spain Section

For decades, guests have swung back and forth on the classic boat ride, Conquistador. According to a posting on the Six Flags Facebook page, Conquistador has officially sailed its last voyage.

I remember riding this ride as a kid. We would stand in line, hearing people scream as the boat was swinging back to its peak height, and watch everyone scream, and then the girls' long hair would fly up as the boat came back down. It was a fun ride for the entire family. It was just scary enough to give you butterflies and airtime.

Why Six Flags Removed Conquistador

A statement from the park's social media posting says,

After exploring multiple options, we have decided that the Conquistador has officially sailed its last voyage. ... While it’s always hard to say goodbye, we’re excited about the epic opportunities ahead.'

The Conquistador was in the Spain section of the park, and this section of the park is going through a major transformation. The park has removed three rides from this area - La Vibora (Bobsled ride), El Diablo (Ring of Fire), and now Conquistador - all to make way for a multi-record-setting new 309' dive coaster that will be opening sometime in 2026.

Fans React to the Conquistador’s Closure

However, as of now, Six Flags Over Texas fans are not happy about the news of Conquistador leaving the park. It's been such an iconic ride in the Spain section since it opened in 1981.

As with everything else, progress will be made, and this section of the park is going to be new and fresh for park guests to enjoy in 2026.
