A New Glow for AC: Why Students Will Notice a Transformation on Campus Next Week
As with any new year in Amarillo, there are going to be changes. They can be big changes or just something small to make a bit of a difference. Changes can happen overnight, like in resolutions, or they can take some time to perfect.
These changes in the new year tend to happen to make things look or feel better. It could be a person making improvements, or it could be a place or a business. The new year is a great time to try out these changes.
Students returning to Amarillo College next week for a new semester may notice a few changes made for the new year. Students will be welcomed back with a new glow on campus.
Amarillo College has been changing and improving a lot over the years. The campus is getting a facelift. Just some of the changes that have welcomed students and the community driving by have been pretty noticeable.
The Blue Bridge: A Vibrant Look for 24th Street
The walkway connecting the campus over 24th Street is now a bright blue and has added a certain pop to the campus.
The FirstBank Southwest Center: A Modern Fitness Hub
The gym area was pretty plain-looking from the outside when I went there in the 90s, and my daughter practiced volleyball about fifteen years ago. Since then, they have spruced up the area and even got naming rights from a local bank.
Last year, they transformed the campus entrance on 24th Street, adding a roundabout and a landscaped area for flowers to welcome students.
So it seems there are always things changing on the Amarillo College campus. We just have to pay attention.

The most recent change I spotted was on a friend's social media page. She happened to drive by and see the glowing sign that welcomes students to the College Union Building. It is a play off of the Paramount Sign in downtown Amarillo. It also comes with a special touch from another local bank.
So next time you are driving around the Amarillo College Campus, make sure you stop and notice all of the changes that they are making. It will be worth the time.
