Sorry To Disappoint

You are not allowed to hunt bears in Texas (Ah mom, but I really wanted to hunt bears!). Tough luck Texans, bears are protected species in the Lone Star States. You may not hunt, harass, or kill bears. In short, Texas says to leave the bears alone (I will have to admit I'm intrigued by the idea of "harassing bears" because I feel like that's a sport I'd love to watch on t.v.).

Bears Bounce Back

The bear population is increasing, mostly in east and southwest Texas due to conservation efforts (Like, you know...not allowing you to hunt them). Most bears should never be a problem to you. Though you think they're out there running wild and munching down on smaller members of the animal kingdom, they prefer nuts, fruits, and berries and get most of their protein from insects. Also, despite the highly realistic pictures in this article, most bears do not have the right, or the ability to bare arms.
