
Schlitterbahn To Make Significant Upgrades Ahead Of 2026 Season
Over the past couple of years, videos have started to circulate that show an aging and neglected Schlitterbahn. I mean, the original section has been open since 1979, and the newer east side opened in 1991. After being open that long, aging was bound to happen, but that is all about to change!
Major upgrades are on the way for Schlitterbahn.
Upgrades include refreshed slides, improvements to the restrooms and resorts areas, and just an overall refresh to the park. There is also a new slide on the way as well. Schlitterbahn opens on May 2 for the 2026 season.

Splashtown in San Antonio is missed dearly.
While we have many family memories at Schlitterbahn, our favorite waterpark destination in Texas was Splashtown in San Antonio! It had all of the thrill rides without the waits, and it was much more economical as well. I am so sad when I drive by that location today and see a car dealership.

This TikTok video perfectly explains what Splashtown meant for many in the San Antonio area and South Texas. I personally remember heading to the parking lot to grab the ice chest to enjoy lunch before continuing waterpark fun.
