I’m So Bummed I NOW Have To Drive 30 Miles To Eat Schlotzsky’s

Why, oh why, can’t a Schlotzsky’s stay open permanently on the Westside of El Paso??

Do you know when I found out the Schlotzsky’s on N. Mesa had shut down? Friday when I was already in the drive-thru lane! Taped to the drive-thru speaker was the following:

“We’re sorry, but we are no longer open for business. Visit us at our 3261 Joe Battle Blvd. location.”

Joe Battle? JOE BATTLE? I’m not going to drive 30 freaking miles just to get a Schlotzsky’s Original on sour-dough with salt and vinegar chips! That’s so far on the Eastside, I might as well just drive a little further and go to the one in Carlsbad!

I guess there’s also one at Ft. Bliss but who wants to bring three forms of I.D.  just to get on base to buy a sandwich?

What would be REALLY nice would be if someone would open a Schlotzsky franchise on the west side of the mountain that will actually stay open.

Do not enough people LIKE Schlotzsky’s? I love them; just, not enough to go gallivanting all over El Paso when gas is $5 a gallon.

So, I’m willing to make an offer: if some bold entrepreneur will give Schlotzsky’s just ONE MORE chance, I will pledge to promote them, free of charge, on my radio show. This kind of deal is very rare. Also, it’s definitely unethical and possibly illegal. But I’ll do it, just to get my once-every-two-or-three-months fix of that delicious sandwich.  It’s a risk I’m willing to take.
