Christmas in Texas wouldn’t be the same without a little holiday magic—and thanks to NORAD, keeping tabs on St. Nick has never been easier!

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) might be best known for its radar systems protecting the skies, but every Christmas Eve, their high-tech expertise turns to something a little more festive: tracking Santa Claus.

It all began with a mistake!

This jolly tradition began back in 1955 when a misprinted phone number in a Sears ad had kids accidentally calling CONAD (NORAD’s predecessor). Instead of hanging up, the kind-hearted operators gave Santa updates, and the rest is holiday history!

Fast forward to today, and NORAD’s Santa Tracker is a Texas-sized upgrade. You can follow Santa’s journey as he zips through the Lone Star State, delivering presents to kids who’ve been extra nice this year.

Will he hit El Paso before Houston? Does Santa snack on brisket instead of cookies in Austin? There’s only one way to find out—download the NORAD Santa Tracker app!

While you wait, the app is loaded with fun games, quirky facts, and Christmas cheer. Texans will appreciate gems like this: Santa’s sleigh weighs a whopping 75,000 gumdrops!

So, whether you’re stargazing in Marfa or waiting up in Dallas, keep an eye on the tracker. When Santa heads for Texas, you’ll know it’s time to turn off the lights, say “Howdy” to holiday dreams, and hope your chimney is Santa-ready!
