Heading to a TX Beach? Get Ready to Swim in High Levels of Poop

Spring Break has passed and more people are heading to South Texas Beaches. The real question is, what you're you swimming in? According to a recent study, chances are you are probably swimming if fecal matter. Fecal contamination in high levels makes beaches unsafe for swimming. Possible side effects from swimming in fecally contaminated water can be gastrointestinal illness as well as respiratory disease, ear, and eye infections, and skin rash.

The recent report shows 220 out of 268 beaches in the Gulf Coast area tested potentially unsafe for at least one day during a calendar year. That's 82%! To break down that stat a little more. In the state of Texas, A total of 61 beaches were tested and 55 of those registered potentially unsafe conditions for swimming on at least one day that year, and quite a few of them were right in our backyard. #1. COLE PARK IN CORPUS CHRISTI

Cole Park beach was tested 68 times and 62 times, which is 91%, the results came back with unsafe water.

Ropes Park beach was tested 54 times and 40 times, which is 74%, the results came back with unsafe water.

The Corpus Christi Marina was tested 40 times and 23 times, which is 57%, the results came back with unsafe water.

Sargent beach was tested 40 times and 20 times, which is 50%, the results came back with unsafe water.
