If you thought Valentine’s Day was the worst day to be single, think again. There’s a new survey that’s telling Valentine’s Day to MOVE OVER because apparently Halloween is the worst day to be single!

According to a new survey from Dating.com, Halloween has officially stolen the crown for “most depressing holiday” if you’re flying solo. Yup, Good ole’ Halloween isn’t as fun when you have to celebrate it alone.

Here’s Why People Think It’s Bad To Be Single on Halloween

According to the survey,  59% of single people said Halloween is one of the hardest days of the year, and 57% said it’s actually worse than Valentine’s Day. One reason could be heading to a Halloween party and watching your ex show up at a party in a “couples costume” with someone new. Yikes.

Even worse, 80% of singles admit to feeling lonely on October 31st and more than half confessed to crying after handing out candy. Damn. I wouldn't even hand out candy. I’d lock myself up in the room and just watch scary movies all night to forget about being single!

Other reasons why people think Halloween is the worst holiday to be single is because the holiday is built for groups. Trick-or-treating, family hangouts, and couples’ costumes are basically the holy trinity of “you’re-alone” reminders. Even calm plans like watching horror movies or baking spooky treats can feel extra lonely when it’s just you and your dog dressed as a vampire.

To make matters worse, 77% of singles say they’ve pretended to have Halloween plans, and 73% blame social media for making it sting even more.

So if you’re spending this Halloween solo, no shame. Put on your comfiest PJs, grab some candy, and remember: ghosts aren’t the only ones who can slay alone.
